Although these tunes are all associated with the American National Experience, many of them originated elsewhere: Gary Owen, My Country ‘tis of Thee, When Johnny Comes Marching Home, The World Turned Upside Down, and The Star Spangled Banner are from the British Isles. While these versatile arrangements are playable by student quartets of modest attainment, they are not over simplified or in any way unsuitable for more advanced players. They are also usable by trios or duos, each staff (i.e., guitars 1 & 3, guitars 2 & 4) being playable by a single guitarist.
