The Bridge

The Bridge for Mezzo-soprano and Guitar by Christopher Alexander.
The Bridge is a song cycle for voice and guitar. The poetry is taken from three poems by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The first song comes from the first verse of Longfellow’s poem “The Bridge,” the second is from “The Fire of Driftwood,” the third is “The Tide Rises The Tide Falls,” and the last is the seventh verse from “The Bridge.” All of the poems are set during the night which is an underlying theme in the cycle.
