Two Lyric Pieces: Grandmother’s Menuet & March of The Trolls

Among the best known works by Edvard Grieg are his sixty-six Lyric Pieces, short pieces for solo piano which were published in ten volumes from 1867 to 1901. The pieces are greatly varied in character, and frequently evoke the native melodies, rhythms and folklore of Norway. The two presented in this edition – Bestemores menuet (Grandmother’s Minuet) Op. 68, No. 2 and Trolltog (March of the Trolls) Op. 54, No. 3 – represent both the variety and uniqueness of these important works.
