Sonata K. 380
$10.00
Domenico Scarlatti was born in Naples, Italy in 1685 and in 1729, following stays in several
other cities, he moved to Seville, Spain. He lived in Seville for a few years and left there in 1733
to settle in Madrid, where he remained for the rest of his life. It was during his years in this city
where his five hundred fifty-five keyboard sonatas were notated in there complete form. There is
speculation that incomplete versions of a number of these pieces were written down in earlier
ears but were not fully notated until after he arrived in Madrid. These keyboard works contain
several of the characteristics found in guitar music of the period. The guitar part of Sonata K
380 (L. 23) is suitable for high school or college level guitarists.
