Candice Mowbray

Candice Mowbray earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in classical guitar performance from Shenandoah University in Virginia. She has enjoyed a multifaceted career as a performer, recording artist, researcher, lecturer and teacher. She has performed with Washington National Opera at the Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap Opera, Maryland Symphony Orchestra and Satori Chamber Ensemble, and has been a featured artist for festivals and organizations including the Guitar Foundation of America, Marlow Guitar International, Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society, Toronto Guitar Society, International Guitar Competition Ida Presti and Boulanger Initiative. Her acclaimed CD, Reverie, featuring a program of French music thoughtfully intertwined by homage, was called “a revelation!” by Blair Jackson of Classical Guitar Magazine. Candice is noted for her research about women in the history of the classical guitar with multiple writings published in Soundboard, the journal of the Guitar Foundation Of America. She is also honored to have had the opportunity to contribute her research and write extensive liner notes for Legado, the beautiful recording project by Berta Rojas that pays tribute to Ida Presti and Maria Luisa Anido and won two Latin GRAMMY Awards.
