Erlkönig for Guitar Quartet

Franz Peter Schubert was a prolific composer from Austria, often attributed with the shift from the classical period to the romantic period. His extremely productive career resulted in the creation of over 600 works, now regularly included in the modern concert program circuit. Of those 600, pieces like Ave Maria, his 8th and 9th symphonies, and Erlkönig are instantly recognizable and widely considered to be classic works of music. The quality of Franz’s music was no doubt influenced by his proficiency in the violin, viola, piano, and his experience singing in choirs.
