Most often accompanied by a piano or occasionally a string orchestra, they sound wonderfully “natural” and convincing with a guitar as well, blending that instrument’s warmth and intimacy with the composer’s timeless melodies. It is hoped these new arrangements for soprano and guitar — which include lyrics in Norwegian or Danish as well as English — will make Grieg’s beloved songs accessible to a wider circle of musicians and audiences. We are delighted that the Edvard Grieg Museum Troldhaugen near Bergen, Norway — one of that country’s most revered cultural sites dedicated to Grieg’s memory — has selected this edition for display and sale.
